Popular actor Mansur Ali Khan was arrested on Friday for land grab charges. He was picked up from his house by a police team based on a complaint from one V Duraivelu who alleged that the actor had illegally constructed a building on his 1247 sq ft of land at Arumbakkam in Chennai. According to an official release from the police, a team of officials from the Central Crime Branch arrested Khan. Police teams led by anti-land grabbing wing Inspector S Vimalan picked up Mansur Ali Khan from his bungalow on Nungambakkam High Road. He was later remanded in judicial custody. The release said the actor had also threatened the complainant when the latter first objected to Mansur's encroachment. Duraivelu had purchased the land for Rs 2.60 lakh in 1994 whose current market value was Rs one crore. A week ago, Duraivelu met Greater Chennai Police Commissioner J K Tripathy and lodged a complaint seeking help to get back his property. The petition was forwarded to the anti-land grabbing cell in the central crime branch. An investigation was conducted and the actor is now arrested.
