There was news in the media just a few days back that theatres in Tamil Nadu will remain closed on December 15, expressing their solidarity with the state. But now there are mixed reactions cropping up among theatres owners.
While the president of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association, Mr. Paneerselvan, has revealed that theatres will remain closed on December 15, Abirami Ramanathan of Tamil Nadu Thiraiaranga Urimaialargal Sammelan has maintained that theatres have never remained politically inclined so far and that they have not issued any statement that the theatres will remain closed on December 15.
Recently there was a ban on the release of 'Dam 999' in TN. The reason for the ban, sited by the Tamil Nadu government, was that the issue in the film was vaguely similar to the Mullaiperiyar dam and if the film released it would hurt the sentiments of a particular state and cause disharmony between the two states.
