TG Thyagarajan: New censor board member


It was a prestigious moment for TG Thyagarajan when he became a member of the Central Board of Film Certification. Thyagarajan will continue in this post for three years. A financial expert from America, T.G. Thyagarajan began his career in the entertainment industry as a producer with Satya Movies. In the mid-seventies Thyagarajan co-founded Sathyajyothi Films.

Being the son of producer, late Venus T Govindarajan, and with an interest for creativity, Thyagarajan entered in to film making and produced very successful films and TV Serials under his popular banner Sathya Jyothi Films. He has been pivotal in introducing many acclaimed directors, including Mani Ratnam to the cine field. The last film that drifted out of the Sathyajyothi Films banner was 'Baana Kathadi.'

Thyagarajan has been the Honorary Secretary in South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce for three consecutive years from 1992-1994. He served as the President of Tamil Film Producers Council during 2005-2006. He has also been the Executive Committee Member in South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce for the years 2004-2006 and during 2010-2011.

Thyagarajan has also served as the President of Madras Cricket Club for the years 2009-2010 as well as 2010-2011.
